We are recruiting a GP Practice Nurse on behalf of an innovative Medical Practice based in the borough of Islington. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced practice nurse to join their welcoming and supportive team, working both remotely, virtually and onsite at one of their 2 sites.
The role is available full time or job share / part time.
You will be working to improve patient health outcomes and deliver high quality care to our patients. The practice has a good rating with the CQC and is at the forefront of developing new technologies in delivering health to their patient population. The practice uses an innovative IT system to ensure that the practice doesn't have the 8am rush, the Monday panic and highly stressful full waiting room. You will be provided with full training on their systems working with an experience multidisciplinary team both in the practice and with the community services.
The practice has a team of GP's, nurses, physician associates, pharmacists, physio's and mental health advisers.
Main duties of the job
- Chronic disease management (such as diabetes and/or respiratory medicine).
- Cervical smears.
- Contraception.
- Wound care.
- Removal of sutures.
- Blood pressure monitoring.
- Travel advice and injections.
- Routine/childhood immunisations.
- ECGs.
- Urinalysis.
- Health promotions.
- Regular clinical meetings.

Qualifications
Essential
- A relevant nursing degree and at least 2 years post qualification experience in a general practice setting or equivalent.
- Current NMC registration with an active PIN; Fundamentals of Practice Nursing course (General Practice Nurse Foundation Programme) or equivalent experience or qualifications.
- Competence (or willingness to learn) to undertake Asthma, COPD and Diabetic clinics / reviews and hold relevant certificates.
Experience
Essential
- Evidence of clinical skills and experience in treatment room consultation, ECG recording, screening, management of long-term conditions, cervical cytology sampling, vaccinations and immunisations, assisting with minor surgery, dressing and wound care.
- Compassionate, empathetic approach and demonstrable kindness in all aspects of your work as well as valuing the dignity of our patients, relatives, carers and colleagues.
- Knowledge and application of supporting long-term conditions.
- Insight and understanding of current issues in nursing and the NHS.
